If you have a strong message in your music, why not portray that message in a strong manner? Ani Difranco might have a strong message, but her music is no less watered down than the apathy-inducing Greatful Dead/ Phish (a.k.a. junkies & capitalists disguised as hippies). There have been much more effective ways for musicians to stand up to macho bullshit. I’ll name just a few prime examples: Spitboy, Dirt, Fast Times, and Bikini Kill who had more feminism in their left one(s) than in all of Ani’s redundant records, and they also didn’t rip off their fans. Being a radical won't necessarily make you immune to greed!
Old news from when Jon ran the old website... 7-8-02 We start our tour tonight. It was supposed to be 3 week with AEO with us split between theADs and VenalIV. But the gods frowned upon us and we only have two out-of-town shows. Oh well, two is better then none. 5-31-02 Eric and I graduated. I'm sticking around for more school and Eric is thinking about getting a job at an adult bookstore. (hehe) We are also going on tour this summer from about July 18th to sometime. I'm only going for a week then I have to go back to work and Venal I.V. will finish out the tour with our tourmates Ass-End Offend. We have a new CD, "Kill the Bastards", It is a decent recording and has a bunch of songs that aren't recorded somewhere else. Come to our shows and by them, (5$ I think), track Matt down on the street and pester him for one, or use the poisoned candy link below. I tried to upload a song but I only have 100K space allowed to me. If I can convince Brent to like me i'll get a song or three up. Shows: 8-9-01 The tour went pretty good. It was our first time out and no one died. I see that as a good thing. Ass End Offend(ers) were very cool to let us tag along. Not only that, they are very good. I believe they have a new 7-inch or something, and i would greatly encourage you invest with them. Also, thanks to all the people who gave us a place to stay and everyone who came to the show to see two (or five in Reno's case) unknown montana bands play. As for upcoming events, just a few shows here and there. 7-23-01 We are going on tour and we recorded 8 or more of our new songs this weekend. I might post a couple on this site before we leave but of course i haven't heard the tape yet. It is actually more low-tech and more rushed then the last one. We are going to try to get a decent recording done in the next few months but school starts in a month and you know how that goes. 7-16-01 I honestly don't have anything important to say but i don't want people to think that i ignore this website, cuz i don't, i've just been working a bunch and the last thing i want to do is look at a computer screen when i get home, by the way, i would advise everyone, if at all possible, to steer clear of anything calling itself a "full time job", i understand that most people need them to survive and some are actually interesting, i like mine so far but just want to warn anyone who is bored at home thinking, "hmm... i wonder what everyone else is doing right now. i wonder if they mind if i joined them?" DON'T DO IT! learn origami or basketweaving or learn to juggle while riding a unicycle. 4-25-01 redrival is falling apart, they are running out of money and space so like all good capitalists, we have to pay or get out. i think we'll do the latter... ill find a new place for the website (if anyone knows some good webhosts, email me at the addresss below) and i guess i'll broadcast it on the Montana Punk Page. See ya soon. 2-25-01 i don't want it to seem like i am neglecting this website because i'm not. i just don't have anything new to put up. we are going to try to record at the higgins hall when they get the equipment in. well proabably give them more money than they ask for cuz they are really nice to let us use it, if they actually do let us. otherwise, they are mean, we might be playing at a show in Red Lodge on march 24th but of course i am the last to hear about everything so ill we get it confirmed ill post the inforamtion. on a more personal note, i was nice enough to let the band venal i.v. use my bass amp for a show they had. i could not make it due to other plans but i was a bit aprehensive. and you know what? they broke it. they fucking broke it. damn them. 2-14-01 the only good thing about this holiday is that you can by Necco brand candy hearts in every store you go to. in other news i updated the page with patches and maybe ill put prices or something but you should try to buy them at shows, its cheaper because of involvment with our faulty but fun mail system. 1-26-01 our show tonight got cancelled, thats ok though. We dont have any shows lined up now mainly because school is starting back up on Monday. This town dies down for a couple weeks until students get into a new school routine. Although there are a bunch of people in school who think this is a holiday anyway and complain when you cant do anything with them, in other news, we have 4 or 5 songs that are almost ready to go so next time we play we'll have some new crap instead of all the same old crap. 1-12-01 well, this is the new design, i'm not too interested making it look fancy, just easy to read. Matt's online zine will be changed soon too but now it is still the old version, i just did this so Kate would stop bothering me.
